Privacy Policy for Wemo Controller
Effective date: May 29, 2026
Wemo Controller is an independent Android and iOS app for controlling compatible legacy Wemo devices on your local home network.
For app details and compatibility notes, see Local Wemo Control for legacy Wemo devices.
Information the app handles locally
The app discovers Wemo devices on the same local network and communicates with those devices using local network requests. This may include local device names, local IP addresses, model information, firmware information, serial numbers, and device status returned by the Wemo device.
This local Wemo device information is used to show, organize, refresh, and control devices in the app. The app does not require a Belkin cloud account and does not send local Wemo device names, IP addresses, rooms, or status information to a developer-operated server.
Stored on your device
The app may save known compatible devices, local descriptor/control URLs, favorites, rooms, display order, custom labels, and last-known state on your phone or tablet. You can remove this locally stored data by clearing app storage or uninstalling the app.
Advertising and consent
The app uses Google AdMob to show ads and Google User Messaging Platform to manage consent where required.
Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and share information such as approximate location inferred from IP address, app interactions, diagnostics, and device or other identifiers, including the Android advertising ID or Apple advertising identifier where available. Google states that this data is used for advertising, analytics, fraud prevention, security, and compliance, and that data is encrypted in transit.
You can learn more about how Google uses information from apps that use its advertising services at:
https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
You can manage ad personalization and advertising identifiers in Android or iOS system settings. Where available, the app also shows privacy options provided by Google's consent SDK.
Accounts
The app does not allow users to create accounts and does not support logging in with a Belkin account or developer-operated account.
Data deletion
Because the app does not create user accounts or store Wemo device data on a developer-operated server, there is no account deletion process. You can remove locally stored app data by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app from your device.
For data handled by Google advertising services, use the privacy controls provided by Google, Android, and iOS.
Children
The app is intended for adults managing home-network smart-home devices and is not directed to children.
Non-affiliation
Wemo Controller is independent software. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Belkin, Wemo, Apple, Google, or the Connectivity Standards Alliance.
Changes
This policy may be updated when the app's behavior or third-party services change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are made.
Contact
For privacy questions about Wemo Controller, use the support contact available from the app's store listing.
Please do not include Wi-Fi passwords, local network credentials, or device secrets in support messages.
